Für die Feiertage und den Jahreswechsel probiere ich beim Beijing Briefing ein neues Format aus: "Bàozhǐ", dem Chinesischen Wort für "Zeitung". Ich stelle dir dabei Artikel aus meinem Archiv vor und gebe ein paar Einblicke, wie die Texte entstanden sind.Diesmal geht es ins Jahr 2017 und an die chinesisch-nordkoreanische Grenze. Ich habe mir in der Handelsstadt Dandong angeschaut, wie sich das abgeschottete Nordkorea wirtschaftlich unter Machthaber Kim Jong Un verändert hat. Dabei traf ich unter anderem auf zwei chinesische Halbstarke, die einst mit Kohle-Importen aus Nordkorea ihren Lebensunterhalt verdient haben, ehe sie die UN-Sanktionen zum Umsatteln auf die Tourismusbranche zwangen. Zudem ich bin einem Geschäftsmann aus Pjöngjang begegnet, mit dem ich bei ein paar Bier ein erstaunlich offenes Gespräch geführt habe.
