Baptism

Water can picture cleansing, but it can never wash away sin. Baptism continues the ancient sign of God's promise to His people, pointing back to Jesus washing away sin rather than forward to the Messiah's coming. It marks God's gracious promise to believers and their children, yet it does not prove anyone is saved.
