Baptism: God's Promise of Grace

Why baptise a child who cannot yet express faith? Baptism pictures dying and rising with Christ and guilt washed away, while marking God's ancient promise to be God to His people and their children. It belongs within a church community that nurtures faith, yet the water itself does not save or magically create belief. Each baptised person must personally trust Jesus, whose death provides the cleansing baptism signifies, while the whole church helps children hear, know and respond to that promise. Preacher: KJ Tromp
