BARBARA WALTERS' MAKEUP ARTIST OF 29 YEARS, LORI KLEIN, ON LOYALTY, TRUST, AND BELIEVING IN YOURSELF

Barbara Walters' makeup artist of 29 years, Lori Klein, may have felt lucky to work with an icon like Barbara as her personal makeup artist, but personally, I think that Barbara was lucky to have Lori on her team. I met Lori Klein over 20 years ago when I began my internship with "The View" the first week they were on the air in 1997. Lori's energy is so sweet and calming, her smile so welcoming. I was scared to death and she knew it. I think to some degree, we were all a little scared around Barbara which kept us on our toes. Prior to working with Barbara Walters, Lori was a model and an artist who enjoyed the process of applying makeup as it reminded her of her love of painting. She is able to look at the symmetry of a face and create a fresh look for any occasion. Lori is a seven time Emmy winner for outstanding achievement in makeup on a daytime show and has recently launched her own line of makeup brushes personally curated with the utmost care. There are people in our lives that we sometimes connect with in different ways. Some relationships are fleeting and then there are the relationships that last a lifetime. When your makeup artist becomes your friend and confidant of over 29 years, and STILL holds your secrets close to her heart, even after your death, I would say you are VERY lucky; especially in this day and age where people sell each other out on the internet for nothing. In our interview, Lori talks about trust, loyalty and what Barbara's friendship meant to her. We talk about imposter syndrome and what it was like to enter an industry where she felt like an outsider. We also talk about the icon herself, Barbara Walters, and share stories with each other reminiscing about a woman who, if you were lucky enough, taught you how to be better.
