Barnaby Rudge Chapter 3

In which the locksmith, Gabriel Varden, finds himself amidst gathering darkness and unsettling cries, leading him to a grievously wounded stranger whose strange semblance and connection to the troubled Barnaby stir a curious mixture of dread and pity. The evening’s tranquillity gives way to a sombre adventure, as duty and sympathy unite the two men in a hurried journey through the shadowed streets of London.
