Barry Morphew Lived Under WHAT Name for Years

Barry Morphew spent months living under names that weren't his own while awaiting trial for his wife Suzanne's murder. After the original case against him collapsed and the lead prosecutor was disbarred, Barry left Colorado and settled into a trailer park in Cave Creek, Arizona, more than six hundred miles from where Suzanne's remains were found in a shallow grave near Moffat. A bar manager in Cave Creek knew him as Bruce. A gas station clerk knew him as Lee. Neither one learned who he actually was until the day law enforcement showed up to arrest him. One night at the bar, a woman recognized his face, said his real name out loud, and Barry looked her in the eye and denied it. He wasn't living alone. The woman he was with had no idea about his real identity either, and according to court filings, he only told her the truth five days before his arrest, along with a version of what happened to Suzanne that doesn't match what prosecutors have laid out in the indictment. Barry was eventually re-indicted by a grand jury, extradited back to Colorado, and released on three million dollars bond, at which point he pleaded not guilty for the second time. Two weeks after that, he allegedly moved to have Suzanne's remains cremated, a request prosecutors caught and blocked with barely a day to spare. This episode traces the aliases, the arrest, and the girlfriend who says she believed a completely different man for years. Jury selection begins October 13 in Alamosa. Barry has pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder, and the law presumes him innocent, but the string of names he used along the way is part of what jurors will eventually hear.
