Baseball and BBQ Episode #125 features a rare triple play as we speak with former Major League Baseball player, Nelson Figueroa, Barbecue Hall of Fame inductee, David Knight, and Los Angeles Angels spring training correspondent, Gary Looney Nelson Figueroa loves baseball, a fact that cannot be denied.  Drafted 833rd overall by the New York Mets in the 30th round of the 1995 Major League Baseball draft, the man affectionately known as Figgy spent the next 19 years playing in the Major Leagues as well as other leagues all over the world, not just for the money, but because he loved playing ball.  in 2015, shortly after hanging up his spikes for good, he began his second career phase as the pre and post-game analyst for the New York Mets broadcasts on SNY.  All of this is discussed on the show, but we will have to have him back on as a few days after we spoke he began career phase three as the new pitching coach for the Staten Island FerryHawks of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball. David Knight was inducted into the Barbecue Hall of Fame in 2016 in the business/industry category.  He is the President and founder of Ole Hickory Pits, a leading manufacturer of commercial and residential barbecue smoker ovens sold worldwide.  David is one of those rare individuals who knew from a very early age what he wanted to do for a career.  He started with a restaurant and later began manufacturing and selling his own pits.  You can learn more about Ole Hickory Pits at https://www.olehickorypits.com/   David has touched the lives of so many people, but is really so humble and respectful of the the numerous individuals who love live fire cooking and admire his role in BBQ.            Gary Looney makes his long awaited return.  Jeff first met Gary in 2020 at the Los Angeles Angels spring training camp complex in Arizona and a friendship quickly developed.  Gary appeared with us on episodes 56 and 87.  He once again offers great insight on a lockout delayed spring training and offers his thoughts on what to expect this season.  Having him on has become an annual tradition and his baseball knowledge is a great addition to any episode.            We recommend you go to Fifth & Cherry, https://fifthandcherry.com for wonderful cutting boards, the Pandemic Baseball Book Club, https://www.pbbclub.com  to find many of the wonderful books we have featured as well as some additional swag, and BBQ Buddha, https://bbqbuddha.com/ for rubs and award-winning sauces. We conclude the show with the song, "Baseball Always Brings You Home" by the musician, Dave Dresser, and the poet, Shel Krakofsky.
