Daniel Warren Johnson has drawn Batman strangling ICE agents and attacking white supremacists in Absolute Batman Annual #1. Writers and artists with the politics of Bane from Dark Knight Rises have rewritten Batman to be a progressive leftist in the last two decades. But since his inception, Batman has always been a reactionary, right-wing character.
