Baton Rouge Drivers Face Nightly I-10 Closures This Week as Widening Project Moves Forward

from Mornings with Brian Haldane · host Guaranty Broadcasting Company

DOTD says Baton Rouge drivers should expect several overnight I-10 closures this week as crews continue work on the interstate widening project. Rodney Mallett with DOTD says the biggest impact will hit the I-10 eastbound on-ramp at South 10th Street near Government Street. That ramp closes nightly from 7 p.m. until 5 a.m. through Thursday, weather permitting. Drivers will also see lane closures between Perkins Road and I-110 while crews move safety barriers and continue work on the westbound flyover expansion. DOTD says the long-term goal is to prepare traffic shifts ahead of future demolition work on the eastbound interstate structure near the Mississippi River Bridge, which is still about two years away. Officials encourage drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, and use alternate routes during overnight construction hours.
