Baton Rouge Leaders Unite to Tackle Rising Domestic Violence Crisis

Community stakeholders and local officials in East Baton Rouge recently gathered for a summit to address the parish's rising domestic violence crisis. Organized by the Rotary Club and the YWCA, the coalition is creating a comprehensive map of local services to eliminate operational silos and improve support access. District Attorney Hillar Moore advocated for a dedicated domestic violence court to handle the one-third of parish criminal cases tied to domestic abuse. The group plans to meet monthly to implement new strategies, including specialized judicial tracks and targeted community education programs.
