Alright guys, I'm gonna do the part two where I'm talking about battered mind my book I'm gonna read you the synopsis that I've been working on for my book and I'm gonna read you an excerpt of it And I'm gonna play some music here. Let's Go to the synopsis. Give me a moment here Getting everything ready Sadie and Dante Carlisle had the perfect life a beautiful home in Chapel Hill most exclusive neighborhood Successful careers a five-year-old daughter Darla who was the light of their world from the outside They had everything but on the night of May 26 23 20 23 Everything shattered when police arrived at the Carlisle residents They find no signs of a violent struggle Dante Carlisle lays bleeding on the kitchen floor claimed to life their daughter was found hiding upstairs terrified and alone and Sadie at the bottom of the stairs caught up in the wreckage unable to explain what happened the scene looked like a break-in gone horribly wrong But the more detective Nadia Scalia investigates the less sense it makes nothing was stolen No signs of forced entry and Sadie's account of the evening has troubling gaps Our she can't explain details that shift and change as Sadie sits a waiting trial her defense attorney Miranda Hamilton Begins uncovering secrets very deep in her clients past a bracelet hidden for 18 years diary entries that are roughly stopped a Summer that Sadie claims she barely remembers the prosecution believes they have a clear-out case But Miranda Hamilton suspects the truth is far more devastating than anyone imagines Some secrets are so terrible the mind will do anything to protect itself even if it means destroying everything So this is my my gripping psychological thriller Which is about memory trauma and the lies we tell ourselves to survive. So I hope that you will you will hopefully Enjoy this book that's coming out February 2026 I have put a lot of work into it and I just hope that when it comes out You will you will connect with the main character and all the other characters There's so many but the main character is Sadie Carlyle her husband Dante Carlyle then there's Jackson Martin Vivian Shively Martin Her mom and it's her parents and there's so much it covers North Carolina the Chapel Hill area I invented the like the Rock Hill Manor is a it's kind of like the governor's Club That they have in Chapel Hill, but I call it the Rock Hill Manor To make it more fictional, you know, and then I cover out for at a Georgia Atlanta, Georgia Savannah, Georgia And it's in all that realm areas that I'm writing about and I really hope that you enjoy the story but I wanted to read you an excerpt of Let's see Because it's divided into parts. I have five parts I'm gonna read you a little bit about the before and What it covers the book will have all that but I'm going to read you now Let's see Okay Goodness what I do here Sadie May 26 2023 morning May 26 2023 has started out like any other day I was in the kitchen cooking one of my husband's Dante's favorite meals You see it's not that I'm an amazing chef or anything But I do know my way around the kitchen.
He said it was one of the things he most loved about me But truthfully the reason I love cooking is because of my Aunt Gertie. She was an amazing chef and my father's only sister I love going to visit her back in Atlanta at Christmas or she would come to visit us several times a year in Alberta That's where I'm from Anyways, she always cook some of the best dishes and would always volunteer to be I would always volunteer to be her soushev It's too bad and Gertie passed away at 50 years old due to due to respiratory illness how I miss her But this is the reason I love to cook whenever I am able to do so tonight's menu Consist consistent of ribeye steaks with or so rice and my famous house salad with blue cheese I just knew Dante was going to love it after all tonight would be special. I was supposed to Sorry, I was so proud of Dante and only a couple of years. He was promoted to partner at his firm Not bad for only working there three years as a corporate lawyer.
He was one of the best I loved hearing how excited he got when he talked about work I can still hear his voice Sadie. You should have seen how nervous I was when I walked into the meeting with all the big wigs I still chuckle at the way Dante Would call the clients big wigs there they're mainly corporations, but they're still their clients Dante certainly has a way with words. He was always the most excited to talk about all the mergers He was overseeing for his clients now. I can't say when the overall merger is going to take place at the moment But Sadie this is gonna be a huge contract.
He was such a hard worker And I'm not gonna to say the job didn't consume more and more of his time But one thing it but the one thing is he always was off on Sundays This way we could attend church at St. Michael's Church and he's as he said and on the seventh day God rested Dante always made sure both our daughter Darlene and I were taken care of I always felt like the luckiest girl as I said May 26 2023 started out as just a normal day. I'm not sure how it all turned into a nightmare If only I could remember. I'm not sure why I have this cap in time.
It's like It's another day. I don't know. I don't remember I just want for everything to be as it was if only I could go back and And that's one of the excerpts for battered mind my book coming out in February hopefully of 2026. I'm very excited to bring this story to you and It's been a long time coming.
I've worked on it for quite a while And as I get closer to it I'm gonna go into more detail about it, you know where it began and I talked about some of it before but it's getting closer So I'm gonna do more of a detailed podcast of how it all came about and the characters and everything But for now, I just wanted to share that in my excitement of the synopsis and an excerpt And I just am really excited that it'll be coming together The wonderful cover was designed by Michael Dangerman.
