Bayside Fundraiser, Red Cross, Fire Safety, Nathan Payas, Zarzuela

from Gibraltar Today

A group of Bayside 6th former students are fundraising to give back to the community during the festive period. Apart from a big spinathon to raise money, they're also helping Father Charlie with the Christmas hampers he puts together for vulnerable families. Sarah Bensadon, Jesse Olivero and Anna Mccomb joined us in the studio. This morning the Red Cross delivered 600 presents to St Bernard's hospital this morning. They are very excited to be 'Santa's Elves' and to help him spread some kindness at this very special time of the year. Jonathan Sacramento told us more. Many of us will be busy in the kitchen over the next week and the Fire and Rescue Service is reminding us all to maintain fire safety during the Christmas period. Leading firefighter Dwayne Trinidad reminded us of the importantance of paying that extra bit of attention at this time of year.In the lead up to Christmas the Breakfast Show on Radio Gibraltar is featuring live festive music in the studio every morning, just after 8. It's a real variety of local musicians taking part and this morning it was opera singer Nathan Payas who graced the airwaves with his rendition of "It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year." We listen back to his performance. And, the Philharmonic Society’s next concert, the Grand Zarzuela, is on this evening at The Holy Trinity Cathedral. We were joined by star tenor, Alejandro del Cerro and one of the most promising sopranos in the current opera scene, Rocio Faus, accompanied by pianist Guillermo Garcia Calvo. Hosted on Acast.
