What this episode covers
Peter calls the church to be courteous/considerate or show humility toward the brethren. Humility is often confused with self-deprecation which is a false humility since it still centers around yourself. Humility is esteeming others better than yourself. Genuine followers of Jesus Christ should look for opportunities to serve one another with no record to keep track. What you have done to the LEAST of your brethren, you have done to Me. Do you consider the lowest worthy of every effort, time, energy, and resources. Your priorities demote for the other's needs/priorities. We often get offended when our service is not reciprocated. You elevate their value in your eyes and esteem them worthy. Church should not be a cruise ship where a few serve a lot to entertain. Rather, chruch should be a battleship where everyone has a job. What does being humbly considerate look like? Your speech towards one another changes. Do you put them down with your words? A measure of your humility is seeing can you take being put down and continue esteeming them. I surrender my rights to bless you. You don't address/meet selfishness with more selfishness. We will bring peace. Be a blessing in our speech. You do not seek to undermind what is beneficial for you. However our speech is not always honey. We warn of danger. We challenge them to learn more. Pursuing peace is not compromising truth. If you are humble, you will have God's attention/importance to have unhindered access to God. Christ served us even when we were His enemies and added to His injury, yet God raised Him up and exalted Him.
