TAZRIA - METZORAH Be a Good Communicator Well, you certainly don’t get to choose what happens around you, but you do get to choose what you speak about. And when you make a concerted effort to deliberately speak well of people, of things, of stories - you are not merely recounting something of the past, but you are actually breathing life into that goodness and allowing it to capture the imagination of your interlocutor. The power of speech is often overlooked, but it is – in truth- extremely powerful in molding the reality around us. This is learnt by the Torah’s admonition against lashon hara, which is equally potent except in a toxic and harmful way. Speak well of people, and you will then elevate the goodness inside them allowing it to dominate and drastically change the reality on the ground.
