Be Self-Conscious (Part 3)!

Self-awareness is not a vice to be worried about or dropped but a virtue to cultivate. Self-awareness is the ability to identify and master your strength and weaknesses, and balancing same under control. It's your ability to define your limits while exerting your presence and will with such a dexterity that exudes virtue. The Psalmist acknowkedges that he's mysteriously complex, and thanks God for making him so. We must accept who we are and learn to deal with how people perceive and receive us. Self-awareness pulls down every form of discriminatory treatment meted at us with an uncanny defiance. Knowing whom you are in the face of ill treatment reminds you that you're better and bigger than what is being thrown at you. Hence you can take a licking and still be ticking because you know who you are! Self-awareness gives you a carriage of dignifying pride that is not sponsored by emptiness; your poise has a weighty balance that stems from the depth of who you are, who you were and who you're becoming. Self-awareness helps you set up the right developmental program for yourself, where you do a SWOT Analysis of your strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats. This self-appraisal helps you identify where work is required, strategy to adapt to or change, and what to expect.
