The City of Long Beach has announced that the Queen Mary completed its latest round of critical repairs, and is heading into the last of its restoration process. City officials expect the historic ocean liner to reopen to fans and visitors by the end of 2022. In L.A. County, District Attorney George Gascón is facing a lawsuit from his former chief of staff who claims she was demoted in retaliation for questioning Gascón's policies. Also, with COVID-19 cases on the rise, the L.A. County Dept. of Public Health is considering reinstating an indoor mask mandate. Rapper Ye, formerly known as Kanye West, as been suspended from Twitter again after his latest slew of anti-Semitic Tweets. Last week, Ye also received widespread condemnation for his compliments of Adolf Hitler while on conspiracy theorist Alex Jones' podcast. In China, law enforcement are suppressing civilian protests of the country's zero-COVID policies. However, the Chinese government has announced its consideration of easing some of its policies. Reports have suggested that Iran is disbanding its morality police following months of national and international protests, though this has yet to be confirmed. The U.S. Senate voted to approve a measure preventing a strike of railroad workers, though they did not grant workers the expansion of paid sick days they demanded. Russian President Vladimir Putin declined the opportunity to speak with U.S. President Joe Biden about ending the war in Ukraine.
