Bear Attack in Catskill Backyard

A woman in Catskill, New York, had a terrifying backyard encounter with a bear that attacked her while she was near a barrel fire—smacking her, trampling her, and fleeing. Though she’s lived there 45 years and seen bears before, this incident has left her shaken and too afraid to leave her porch. She’d even reported a strangely behaving bear weeks earlier, raising concerns officials are now monitoring. The event underscores how nature can unexpectedly disrupt even the most routine lives, forcing a sobering reflection on our place in the wild.
