Bearing Witness (Lamentations 2:5-11)

from Haverhill Commons Church · host Matt Webel

We all want to be protected. We want to know that if disaster strikes, we’ll still be okay, that someone will have our back, defend us and protect us. Sometime it can work too well.  When we hide behind our walls, we might come to view everyone on the other side our enemy, afraid that they might get in and take, or ruin, what we have. Jesus could have established an earthly kingdom or endorsed a leader or government. Instead he changed the whole concept of “kingdom.” He changed the whole purpose of power. In him, God was among us as one who served. And the picture we get of God’s kingdom is one that transcends not only national boundaries, but all boundaries.
