Beautiful Sunday Beach Conditions in New York with 2 Foot Waves and Mostly Sunny Skies

from Montauk Surf Report for Montauk New York · host Inception Point AI

Good morning, this is your New York surf zone forecast for Sunday, September 28th, issued at 1:56 AM by the National Weather Service. We're looking at a beautiful day shaping up across all our beaches from Brooklyn out to the East End of Long Island. Conditions are going to be quite similar across the board, so whether you're planning a visit to Coney Island, Rockaway, Jones Beach, or anywhere in between, here's what to expect. Surf heights will be running around 2 feet throughout the day, making for calm conditions across all zones. Rip current risk is low everywhere, though as always, those dangerous rip currents can still develop near groins, jetties, reefs, and piers, so keep that in mind if you're heading into the water. For the weather itself, we're starting mostly cloudy this morning, but that's going to clear out as we move through the day. Most areas will see increasing sunshine, with many spots turning mostly or completely sunny by late morning or early afternoon. It's going to be a pleasant late September day with highs in the mid to upper 70s, warmest over Brooklyn and the inner beaches. Light winds out of the south and southeast at around 5 miles per hour will keep things comfortable, though they'll shift more southwesterly as the afternoon progresses. Water temperatures are in the lower 70s across most of the forecast area, dropping into the upper 60s out toward Montauk. The UV index is moderate, so some sun protection is still a good idea if you're spending extended time outside. High tides will occur around midday across all our beaches, with Coney Island reaching high tide at 12:39 PM, while eastern locations like Shinnecock Inlet will peak around 12:31 PM. There's no thunderstorm potential today, so you won't need to worry about lightning or sudden weather changes. This is the final surf zone forecast of the season, so if you're planning to enjoy the beach today, conditions couldn't be much better. Grab your sunscreen, head out and enjoy this beautiful late September day on the water.
