Beckside Lights - John Ackworth
from The Sun Also Rises Hosted by Ernest Hemingway
Beckside Lights by John Ackworth is a charming collection of twelve tales that delve into the everyday life of a close-knit Methodist community in the fictional village of Beckside. As a sequel to Clog Shop Chronicles, these stories revolve around the entertaining gatherings at Jabez Clegg's clog shop, where humor and irony intertwine with sentimentality. Ackworth's keen observation of the Lancashire dialect brings authenticity to the spoken passages, enriching the reader's experience. The themes of community, faith, and the simple joys of life resonate deeply, making this collection not only a delightful listen but also a timeless reflection on human connections that remains relevant today.
