Becoming an Intuitive Athlete with Lo Segal

from Wilder Wellness · host Kristen Ales, LPC + Kristin Mathes, LCSW

Do you struggle slowing down and taking the time to check in with yourself? Do you have a difficult time knowing what your body needs or wants? Stress, anxiety, unresolved emotions, trauma, and the demands of our daily life can make slowing down feel impossible or sometimes deeply uncomfortable. Today we are joined by Lo Segal Registered Dietitian and Yoga Instructor who shares more about her philosophy and approach to slowing down and tuning in. Lo discusses her challenge as a former Division 1 Athlete and Collegiate Sports Nutritionist where she felt important elements of wellness and personal wellbeing were not aligning with the typical athlete mindset. She now owns her own business called Intuitive Athlete Yoga where she turns clients inward for guidance about what their body needs for a healthier relationship with food, movement, and beyond. In this episode we explore Lo’s journey from a former D1 athlete and collegiate sports nutritionist toward an approach and philosophy that feels almost opposite. What does it actually look like to tune into our bodies and how it can help us have a healthier relationship with food, our body, and overall purpose in life.  Challenging typical Athlete mindsets like “All or Nothing”, “Go big or Go Home” and guilt related to not sticking to a plan! How trauma or unresolved emotions can make slowing down and listening to our bodies scary or uncomfortable + how to work with this in a safe trauma informed way.  You can find Lo and her offerings by visiting her website or Instagram @intuitiveathleteyoga You can learn more about the hosts Kristen Ales, LPC, and Kristin Mathes, LCSW by visiting their websites.
