Becoming Other-Centered with Sister Pauline Quinn

from Daughters of Change · host Marie Sola, Tanner Campbell, The Portland Pod, Pauline Quinn

Sister Pauline Quinn, a Dominican nun, is best known for launching one of the first prison dog programs in the United States and expanding the concept throughout the U.S. and the world. Traumatized as a young child over a long period of time, Sister Pauline was institutionalized in the early 1950s for running away from the situation. During these long painful years, she saw many abused and distraught people in institutions who felt they had no hope or purpose for their lives and were trapped in their sorrows. She wanted to help people like those she left behind. Sister Pauline has dedicated her life fo helping others find hope, inspiration, and the quality of living a life of purpose that she calls becoming "other centered" Her inspirational story is the subject of a TV movie, “Within These Walls”, and the book “Secrets Shared: The Life and Work of Sister Pauline Quinn Op” Reference Links: Secrets Shared: The Life And Work of Sister Pauline Quinn: https://www.amazon.com/Secrets-Shared-Sister-Pauline-Quinn/product-reviews/1945895012 The Prison Dog Program: http://www.bpofcourage.org/about-us/ The Font School: http://www.bpofcourage.org/font-school/font-school-fundraiser/ Dominican Sisterhood: https://bit.ly/2yRrsYJ Bridges and Pathways on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bpofcourage/ Within These Walls (film inspired by Sister Pauline): https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0289791/
