Bede Vs. The Living Dead Episode 28 - Clive Barker's Night Of The Living Dead: London (1993) and Night Of The Living Dead: Barbara's Zombie Chronicles (2004)
from Bede Vs. The Living Dead · host The BVTLD Network
Hey, everyone! Welcome to episode 28 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. The podcast where your host Bede Jermyn explores the remakes, re-edits, reimaginings, homages, unofficial follow-ups and more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night Of The Living Dead across all media. Well, it has arrived. 2023 is almost over. It's been a massive year for the podcast. While there have been quite a number of highs and lows with the many of the Night Of The Living Dead related projects that have been discussed on the show these past 12 months, it has been nothing but an absolute thrill for your Bede. Before signing off on 2023, Bede is exploring another area of NOTLD media that he hasn't tackled yet until now: comic books. For this final episode for 2023, Bede will be looking the 1993 two-issue comic miniseries Night Of The Living Dead: London from legendary author Clive Barker (Hellraiser, Nightbreed), Steve Niles (30 Days Of Night) & Carlos Kastro and the 2004 three-issue comic miniseries Night Of The Living Dead: Barbara's Zombie Chronicles by Mark Kidwell & Joel Moen. Joining Bede to discuss these comic book expansions of NOTLD is returning guest Beatrix Harper (who hasn't been on the show since episode 6) and first-time guest Trevor Snyder, co-host of the podcast Failure To Franchise. Unfortunately due to some curcumstances, Bea was only able to join for the first half of the show. Highlights in this one include the first time that Trevor saw NOTLD and how it became his all-time favourite film, how Clive Barker & Steve Niles put their stamp on the NOTLD world with Night Of The Living Dead: London, praise Carlos Kastro's haunting artwork of the comic, the complexity of the main protagonist Archbishop Hallam, the mixed feelings of Barbara's characterization in Night Of The Living Dead: Barbara's Zombie Chronicles, the exploitation elements of the story, the insane final twist that you won't see coming and so much more. Plus at the end of the episode, Bede goes into what exciting stuff he has planned for the podcast in 2024.
