Bede Vs. The Living Dead Episode 4 - Night Of The Living Dead: 30th Anniversary Edition (1999) and Children Of The Living Dead (2001)
from Bede Vs. The Living Dead · host The BVTLD Network
Hey, everyone! Welcome to episode 4 of Bede Vs. The Living Dead. The podcast where your host Bede Jermyn explores the remakes, re-edits, reimaginings, homages, unofficial follow-ups and more to George A. Romero’s 1968 classic Night Of The Living Dead across all media. Not only is this episode the fourth one done for this podcast, this is also the last one for 2022 since your host Bede will be aways on holidays for both Christmas and New Years. Don't worry, the show will be back for its regular scheduled programming from January 8th to bring to more episodes on the many different versions of Night Of The Living Dead. However before he heads off on his holiday break, Bede has brought a jam-packed epic episode to end the year on, and it's one that he's been very excited to tackle ever since he put this show together. Why is that? Because our host finally dives into one of the most infamous re-edits of NOTLD that are out there: Night Of The Living Dead: 30th Anniversary Edition (which was spear-headed by original NOTLD co-writer John A. Russo, who wrote & directed 15+ minutes of new footage for this version) and its sequel, yes, that's right *sequel*, the 2001 film Children Of The Living Dead. Joining Bede to discuss these two very maligned films are first time guests John Mathews & Tony Michas, the co-hosts of the podcasts Imprint Cast and Indicator Cast. Highlights in this episode include Bede and his guests trying to figure out why Night Of The Living Dead: 30th Anniversary Edition exists in the first place, how obvious the newly shot scenes look when mixed with the footage of the 1968 original, Scott Vladimir Licina's awful and cartoonishly over-the-top performance as "Reverend Hicks", the new score ruining the intensity of some scenes, the enjoyable so-bad-it's-hilarious qualities of the sequel Children Of The Living Dead, the scene that broke Bede while he was watching it, star Tom Savini's atrocious dubbing, the behind-the-scenes troubles on the film and so much more.
