Bedrock For Every Action!

The bible lays a crucial foundation of love as the bedrock for every action we take, "For God so loved the world, that he gave...," suggesting to us the criteria for which our every action is weighed and measured. If your action is not motivated or sponsored by love, it falls short of God's standards. All of God's acts towards us demonstrates His love. Whether it is His mercy, His goodness, His peace, His forgiveness, His blessings, His rebuke, or even His 'punishment,' points us in the direction of His love. Thus, our corresponding action to God's immeasurable and boundless love should be love to humanity. To buttress this thought, Paul further argues that, "If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing" (1 Cor 13:1, 3). What this implies is that love is the measuring yardstick for which our actions are weighed. These scriptures should challenge us to take a station break and think: am I in any way fulfilling scriptures? What percentage of my actions to others or service to God is motivated by love? If they were of love, why do I feel frustrated if they're not given the kind of attention or response I expect? Since God weighs the intents and thoughts of my heart to reward me accordingly, what kind of rewards would my actions bring? Paul says if it not of love, I gain nothing (1 Cor. 13: 3).
