Respect your elders! At a minimum, respect the advice of your elders. They have been around longer and have more wisdom and on average have better advice than your friends. In this chapter we see Rheoboam take leadership over Israel and start by rejecting the advice of the elder counsel and accept the advice of his friends who want him to respond harshly to his people. We talk again about servant leadership, what it is, and how Christ was the ultimate example of servant leadership.
