Before This Time
from alleyvision · host HA!
There was a time before this time when I thought I knew the why and the how of the world When I trusted intelligence reasoning that if I followed the directions printed on the back of the box logically critically thoughtfully carefully doing all the right things I would find my place my love my family my song and truly, these would be my own. There was a time before this time I believed in happy endings, that love could be unconditional and responsive that time healed wounds that you will always get what you need that things work out the way they are supposed to that if you are accountable and do the work, you will succeed That everything happens for a reason people can change because you love them so much if you were good, doing good, then good would happen That dreams could come true. There was a time before this time when I thought I knew why I was here I was fired-up about the great job I was going to do while I was awake, this time I reminded myself to stay at the wheel There was a time before this time when faith was just a pep-talk away when I had too many friends and not enough time when moments of joy on the faces of my loved ones, sunsets, saying goodbye, weddings, and wildflowers still made me cry. There was a time before this time when I was soft in the head hard in the heart wanting so badly to belong to someone, anyone, other than me. There was a time before this time, I watch myself remembering it now. HA! 2016 alleyvision.com
