Behind God's Hedge - Audio
from Hicksville Mennonite · host Steven Eicher
This sermon explores the powerful truth that while spiritual warfare is real, it is never beyond the sovereign control of God. Drawing from Job 1:1-12 and especially Job 1:10, the message pulls back the curtain on the unseen world to reveal three comforting realities: Satan walks to and fro throughout the earth seeking opportunities to accuse, tempt, and oppose God's people; God places a protective hedge around His children that the enemy cannot cross without divine permission; and above every earthly battle and every spiritual conflict, Jesus Christ sits enthroned at the right hand of the Father, reigning with absolute authority. Through the example of Job, believers are reminded that trials do not arrive apart from God's knowledge or purpose. Though the devil remains active, he is not sovereign; though suffering may come, God's protective hand still governs every circumstance; and though the enemy accuses, Christ continually intercedes for His people. The sermon encourages both believers and unbelievers to place their confidence not in circumstances, personal strength, or earthly security, but in the finished work and present reign of Jesus Christ. The central message is clear and hope-filled: the devil keeps walking, the hedge keeps standing, and Jesus keeps reigning.
