Palamountain Chair in Government at Skidmore College. He has written three books, including the award-winning A Constitution for the Living: Imagining How Five Generations of Americans Would Rewrite the Nation’s Fundamental Law. He is a regular on WAMC's Roundtable and has appeared on C-SPAN, The Thomas Jefferson Hour, Listening to America, Consider the Constitution, and elsewhere. He holds a Ph.D. in political science from the University of Pennsylvania. From 2011-2018, he was Skidmore’s Dean of the Faculty.
