Behind the Uniform: Mental Health Matters With Penelope Camarata

from Personal Development Trailblazers Podcast · host Digital Trailblazers

Welcome to the Personal Development Trailblazers Podcast! In this episode, we’ll unpack the complexities of mental health, discuss the stigma that many service members encounter, and explore the impact of these challenges on their lives and missions. Penelope Camarata is an 8-year veteran EMS provider who, after a close friend who was a Philadelphia Police Lieutenant, took his own life. After three years of struggling to find the answers on her own, Penelope hit rock bottom and realized that in her search for help in a city of 5.5 Million people, there were no therapists, counselors, or psychologists who understood what a First Responder goes through after a traumatic event, due to the fact they've never been First Responders themselves.  Penelope began to turn it around and realized that what she went through can help other First Responders suffering in silence when there is no need to. Breaking the stigmas has been Penelope’s mission ever since so we can pull the people who serve others selflessly from  'victim to victor' in their emotional well-being.
