The proliferation of Hallmark-like movies, with predictable plots and consistent themes, especially at Christmastime, is a powerful sign that people are hungry for love. They long for an ideal match and a deep, abiding affection and complete acceptance. The stories usually culminate with a misunderstanding resolved by a revelation of personal sacrifice for the sake of the beloved. One gives up a former life to be with the love of her/his life and then there’s the consummation via a kiss… and the credits roll.
