Then Jesus walks toward him along the Jordan, and John speaks words that will echo through every Mass until the end of time: Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world.Isaiah promised a Servant whose mission would expand beyond Israel to become a light to the nations. John sees that Servant standing before him and recognizes the Lamb whose sacrifice fulfills all sacrifices. Paul writes to a church already spreading across the known world. And we stand in that same stream, inheritors of a mission that began before we were born.The light that Isaiah promised is still spreading. The Lamb that John announced is still taking away sin.
