When a boat or canoe arrives, xenophobes always say they are not refugees, a status that is not granted to all migrants because there are no wars in their countries.For a migrant to apply for asylum and become part of the international protection system and the national reception network, a series of conditions outlined in the Geneva Convention must be met: you must have a well-founded fear of being persecuted for reasons of race, religion, nationality, political opinion, or membership in a particular social group, such as the LGBTIQA+ community.
