Being Small Starting Smaller

from Leonard Angelo Art

December Culling – Being Small & Starting Smaller This morning I decided that I would use the month of December for culling. I have this large stack of ideas and unfinished projects that I need to organize and begin developing. I think if I push past the initial overwhelm and focus on making small, rough progress it might be possible to have a more organized and semi-developed stack to take into a fresh new year. My plan is to work through the flagged pages in my sketchbooks and begin drawing and developing based on the things that seem to have potential. The new drawings go into file folders and get assigned as a real project on my planner. I’d like to think of this as yet another challenge for the month and maybe use the momentum from previous challenges to keep on task. As always, I think it will be in my best interest to focus on simply clarifying my ideas for later than getting a finished product. This is a simultaneously large and small task ahead of me. Here is a bit of what I was able to get to today… I’ve also been up late some nights this week trying to finish an illustration that highlights all of my weaknesses at once. It’s vector, it’s perspective, it’s a street scene of an actual place with distinctive landmarks that matter to the client. My sleepy little buddy, Beebo has had enough of these long hours and so have I. One good bit of business – I did get through all 3 of the tasks on my ETP for today. It’s a decent start to the month, except for my bedtime.
