Belfast Sandwich Shop Devastated by Fire | Belfast News

Belfast’s beloved West Gourmet Sandwiches is closed indefinitely after a devastating fire that destroyed everything — smoke, water, and flames left the shop submerged in six inches of water. Owners Chris Scott and Paul Donaghy believe a burst pipe sparked the blaze, and with damage so severe, they’re facing months of cleanup and repairs. They’ve canceled all catering events — from birthdays to funerals — and Chris is sleepless, stressed over unpaid staff and the loss of 25 years of business. They’ve weathered past disasters, including the Primark fire and pandemic shutdowns, but this one feels like the toughest yet. Still, community support has been a lifeline. They’re aiming to reopen after Christmas, possibly starting fresh with a full gut job — determined to rise stronger than ever.
