Belichick Family in Flux Ahead of Season Opener | North Carolina Tar Heel Football News

North Carolina football is racing toward their season opener against TCU in Dublin, Ireland — just 12 days away — but the team’s leadership is in flux, missing both GM Michael Lombardi (on administrative leave since July over an HR complaint) and defensive coordinator Steve Belichick (the coach’s son, on medical leave). Coach Belichick says the staff is adapting, with others stepping up, and hopes the Lombardi investigation wraps up soon as recruiting ramps back up. The team is tight-lipped on details, with a spokesperson blocking commentary from coaches and players. As for Steve’s return or play-calling plans, the coach remains silent — emphasizing that the season hasn’t started yet and the focus is purely on preparation amid these shifting circumstances.
