Believe In What You're Saying - with Becky Evans

from The Steven Sulley Study Podcast · host Steven Sulley

Steven has always aspired to inspire the younger demographic out there. With this mission in mind, it’s important to use the stories of others to inspire, motivate and educate the souls we’re handing this world to in the next generation. That’s why this week’s guest is perfect. Becky Evans began life in Coventry, and could well have lived her life in obscurity, had not her passion, determination and drive spurred her to blaze a trail in the world. Becky is known as Queen B on Instagram, and has turned her passion for cars into an explosive career that has seen her attract the patronage and support of companies such as Red Bull on her journey towards what is surely destined to be one of the great fairy tale careers. Becky joins Steven today to discuss her incredible story. It’s a conversation that’ll leave you inspired to chase your own success. KEY TAKEAWAYS Never look back on a decision with regret. You can’t change the past, so embrace the path you’ve chosen, wholeheartedly.  Success won’t come looking for you. You have to go out there and grab it. Becky was active in finding her place in the world. It was scary at times, but her passion drove her on. People write hobbies off as unimportant. But they give you purpose. They inspire you. They cause you to spend your free time on them. Find your passion and embrace it. Becky exists primarily in a man’s world. This has given her a rare insight into the way men work. Men can smell weakness in different ways. She knew she had to make it in a confident, authentic way. You sometimes have to spin a lot of plates in order to get where you need to be. It can be stressful, but the rewards are worth it in the end. So many people are trying to create their own empires. Make yours an empire that people are attracted to by always endeavouring to be on your A-game. The minute you get complacent is the minute you start to slip down. The biggest stifler of creativity is shifting focus. The people who move forward the fastest are the people who focus on what’s ahead, not on what’s at either side. Becky’s Five Points for creators are: Figure out exactly what you can do Why you are the person to do it What is your USP? Be consistent Collaborate For anything to be monetised, there needs to be a simple buy-and-sell element. You need to break your model all the way down to simple economics. Normalisation is Becky’s solution to the sometimes chauvinistic attitude she encounters. By increasing the visibility of women in her sector, it will eventually become normalised, and won’t be a “thing” anymore. Find out what your thing is. What excites you? What drives you? When you find it, work back from there. Find a way to make that thing your main focus in life. BEST MOMENTS ‘From idea to execution - it was eight weeks' ’Nothing in your life will happen unless you go out there and do it’ ‘A hobby enables you to be the person that you want to be’ ‘If you’re sure, then you can pass that on’ ‘You’re still focussed on your North Star’ ‘Do not ever become complacent’ ‘Your focus has to be yourself’ VALUABLE RESOURCES The Steven Sulley Study Podcast Queen B Instagram - www.instagram.com/queenb Becky Evans YouTube - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLPmXARqER7Ri8UAk0QLGpQ  ABOUT THE HOST The Steven Sulley Study is my take on success.
