Its shiny black berries and bell-shaped purple flowers may look tempting but contain dangerous tropane alkaloids, including atropine and scopolamine, which can cause hallucinations, paralysis, and even death. Despite its toxicity, belladonna has been used in medicine to dilate pupils, treat motion sickness, and manage muscle spasms.
