In the final hour, Matt Spiegel and Ryan McGuffey discussed Cubs right-hander Ben Brown getting the starting nod Friday evening with left-hander Matthew Boyd sidelined by injury. Could Brown perform well enough to lock down a starting job in the rotation in the long term? Ross was fired after the 2023 season and replaced by current Cubs manager Craig Counsell ahead of the 2024 campaign.
