On June 3rd, Dr. Marcia McNutt (President of the National Academy of Sciences) spoke on 'The State of the Science' in the U.S. According to Dr. McNutt 'America can’t be great without great science – which is fundamental to U.S. economic growth, national security, and the prosperity and well-being of all our citizens. In my address, I hope to provide a clear picture of the current trends in the research enterprise, likely outcomes, and ways that the scientific community can respond to this new and challenging environment.'
