After an ugly 23-10 Week 1 loss to the New York Jets, some Titans fans are bringing up the Carolina Panthers’ decision to bench Bryce Young in 2024. But how closely does that situation actually compare? Carolina benched Young after the first two games of his second NFL season, with veteran Andy Dalton taking over. Young had already made 18 NFL starts by then. He eventually returned to the lineup after Dalton injured his thumb and went on to show improvement. That full sequence matters when Titans fans argue that a benching could be the answer for Ward.
