Bennett started his legal career as law clerk to Chief Judge Sidney Fitzwater of the Northern District of Texas, and then as a litigator for eight years with Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP. Bennett received his bachelor’s degree in political philosophy summa cum laude from the University of Dallas, where he played NCAA soccer. He received his law degree summa cum laude from SMU Dedman School of Law, where he served on the SMU Law Review, earned induction into the National Order of Barristers for his success in moot court tournaments, and worked for Fifth Circuit Judge Catharina Haynes and Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice Wallace Jefferson.
