Bermudian Scholars Explore Azores Heritage | Bermuda News

Bermuda’s brightest young minds, Sydney Rego and Catrina Furtado, just returned from a life-changing 17-day academic adventure in the Azores — the first-ever FLAD Summer Program for Bermudians. Selected from 21 students through a fierce local competition, they earned college credits, explored Azorean history and culture, and forged lifelong bonds. Sydney, a clinical psychology master’s grad, connected her roots to Azorean heritage through history and whale-watching, while Catrina, a marine biology student, found conservation lessons come alive through historic sites. Both say the trip deepened their identity and sparked a hunger for more — and next year’s program is already being planned. If you’re 18-25, Azorean-descended, and ready to explore your roots — watch for applications this year. Listen in comfort:Get a discount on a Soli Pillow: http://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
