FIRST AIR: 7/16/21 Chukky Okobi is an 8 year veteran of the National Football League and a Super Bowl winning champion with his hometown Pittsburgh Steelers. Today he’s an emotional intelligence and integrative psychology professional, using his psychology expertise not only as a Keynote & Motivational speaker, but mainly as a mental performance coach for venture capitalists, startup founders, entrepreneurs, and current/former pro athletes. Chukky Okobi has the personal experience to guide other ambitious corporate leaders to recognize that Success is Simple…if you know the Basic Instructions of Mind Mastery. This Episode’s Heavy-Hitters: Chukky made the decision he was “going pro” at age 7– he just didn’t know what sport he would go pro in until he played football at age 13 and decided it was “way easier than it looked on TV.” Chukky’s dad didn’t know he played football until he was in college and his mother was so busy she barely had time to notice either. Chukky had to seek out and “collect father figures” through his coaches and other mentors on the teams he was a part of. After getting rejected from Louisiana, as they deemed Chukky to not be “top 10 material” he got recruited to Purdue, where they beat top rival Louisiana in the first two games they faced off for a combined score of 112 to 9. Chukky says the games leading up to the Super Bowl are more memorable for him than the actual Super Bowl game where he won his ring itself, since they couldn’t lose a single game and had to fight for their spot to make it. Everything in your past isn’t real– it’s just your perception of what happened. Since your future hasn’t happened yet, that’s not real either. All that’s real is now, so why not make your own story? Chukky says: “People have 99.9% confidence that the sun is going to come up tomorrow… Why don’t you just apply that same confidence to yourself?” If you enjoyed this episode, please leave a review/rating: https://ratethispodcast.com/thepozcast #thePOZcast is brought to you by our friends at Interseller – the prospecting + outreach platform of recruiters and sellers.
