Best Sermon Ever: The Sermon on the Mount
from Oklahoma City First Church Sermons & Devotionals · host First Church OKC
Nowhere does Jesus talk more clearly about what it looks like to follow Him than in the Sermon on the Mount. In His longest discourse in the Bible Jesus outlines the practical implications of Godly faith. He teaches what happens when God shows up: the poor, the meek, and those who mourn are called blessed. Enemies are loved. The poor are cared for. God's will is done on earth. These provocative and counter-intuitive statements are just as radical today as they were 2,000 years ago. Many modern Christians believe following Jesus means going to worship, giving financially to the church, and maybe, if you are a super Christian, attending a Sunday school class or Bible study. Although these are all important aspects of being a Christian none of them compare to what Jesus teaches about in the Sermon on the Mount.
