The Assignment: Create a sonic menagerie. This year at Musikfestival Bern, Chloé Bieri — singer, composer, performer, sound artist — will blend science and music for a work based on animal voices. In consultation with her and Tobias Reber of the festival team, we will be doing this following project. Submitted tracks may, possibly, become part of the performance or future work by Bieri. Video or recorded text submissions would be possible as well, as there will be video projections at the festival. There is just one step for this project: Since the Disquiet Junto is a community, create the sense of an animal communal gathering by combining processed animal sounds into an original recording. You might record your own, make them yourself, or utilize them from resources such as freesound.org. This is the fourth project in this year’s collaboration between Musifestival Bern and the Disquiet Junto, in our eighth year of working together.
