Bestway, Intex, and Polygroup Above Ground Pools Are A Drowning Hazard

Vidcast:  https://www.instagram.com/p/DMip_ZnuR9I/These pools have compression straps running around the outside and over the vertical support legs that provide a foothold for children to climb up into the pools.  This design flaw has contributed to nine tragic drowning deaths of young children between 2007 and 2022.   The affected brands and models include Bestway’s Power Steel and Steel Pro, Intex’s Metal Frame, Prism Frame, Ultra Frame, and Ultra XTR models, as well as Polygroup’s Summer Waves, Summer Escapes, Funsicle, Sand n Sun, and Blue Wave.About five million pools sold in the US and about 266,000 were sold in Canada at Walmart, Target, Sears, Lowe’s, Kmart, Toys “R” Us, Sam’s Club, The Home Depot, Big Lots, Costco, and BJ’s, as well as online through Amazon, Wayfair, and manufacturer websites.  All sales since 2002.If you own one of these pools, immediately contact Bestway, Intex, or Polygroup to receive a free repair kit. The kit includes a rope that secures the pool’s structural integrity, replacing the original compression strap. After you install the kit, cut and remove the strap to eliminate the foothold risk.
