Beth of Fresh Air – Episode 31: Re-Tell

from King Hero's Journey with Beth Martens · host Beth Martens

Story is food for humans. We spend a lot of time thinking about what nourishes us physically, emotionally, and mentally, yet many people are starving for story. Not only for information, instructions, and guidance. But authentically told story that carries something real and can be the food for something else real to grow. There are all kinds of stories in the world. Stories that shape cultures. Stories that influence behavior. Stories that travel through families, communities, and generations. Stories that programs tell. Stories that become identities. What interests me most are the authentic lived stories of transformation. The stories that reveal something true, that don't ask you to believe anything, but allow you to witness and know how a transformation unfolded in real time. The Nourishment of StoryA genuine story carries more than information. It carries experience, wisdom, meaning and a transmission of something that was lived and discovered and overcome. Many of the people I've worked with think no one wants to hear their story. Yet even the most ordinary moments can become deeply nourishing when shared authentically. When a story is told from a place of presence, it becomes something others can recognize in themselves which is a feast for the essence of who we are. What We'll Together ExploreWhy story is essential nourishment for human beingsHow stories shape perception and experienceThe stories programs tell and how they sustain themselvesAuthentic stories of transformationWhy people underestimate the value of their own storiesWhat happens when stories are told and re-told over timeHow stories evolve, deepen, and continue to reveal meaningWhat Inspired Re-TellMicah Ellars inspired this podcast, and when he can, I’ll have him on for a Part 2—or even Part 3!Today, as I write these notes, I had the honour of hearing more of how his life unfolded. I was hungry and have heard others ask to hear the story behind his wellspring of truth, knowledge, and unique gifts for helping others transform. It was riveting. I was the whole time very aware that there was far more left untold than told.Micah graciously agreed to let me record our conversation and share it with those who are interested in self-remembering and in understanding how he arrived at this place in his life—where he and I are now working together, and where he's bringing his experience in acting, filmmaking, coaching, and teaching into service of that work.He spoke about what led up to our meeting, and the synergy that emerged from it. He talked about what led up to our meeting, and the synergy that came of it. (Stay tune for more on how to see it soon!!!)I think what I enjoyed most about hearing his story was witnessing how seemingly separate threads of a life can reveal a deeper coherence when seen as a whole.Discover other deprogramming and archetype courses at www.bethmartens.comApply for a zero-cost, one-on-one chat about working together: https://www.bethmartens.com/awaken-your-journey-archetype-applicationFind out your King Hero Archetype in ten minutes: https://www.bethmartens.com/king-hero-archetype-quiz-sign-upApply to become a House of Free Will Member: https://www.bethmartens.com/house-of-free-will-applicationDo a starter online course: Deprogramming 101 or Find Your Sacred Purposehttps://www.bethmartens.com/deprogramming101https://www.bethmartens.com/find-your-sacred-purpose-online-course
