Better Communication - A Special Live Discussion

from The Interesting Health & Safety Podcast · host Colin Nottage

In this very special show, Colin shares a live LinkedIn discussion he took part in, alongside Christian Harris of Slip Safety, and Jonathan Dempsey of Red Laces, surrounding the topic of effective communication in health and safety, and why it matters. KEY TAKEAWAYS Risk and safety have a bad image in some quarters. We can solve this by making sure that when we communicate, we're not only talking, but listening. Clarity in communication is critical. There should be no room for misinterpretations, as messages are designed to ensure safety and wellbeing. People need to feel what it is that you're bringing to the table. It's not enough to simply say what you mean. You have to make people feel what you mean. Communication is a two way street. Always seek input, even from those with less experience. We all bring a different perspective to the proceedings. BEST MOMENTS 'One way we can better communicate is by spending time in the field' 'We all have a role to play' 'The feeling bit is the important bit' 'We can definitely learn from the whippersnappers!'
