Better Together - The Rooted Life
from Shelbyville Community Church · host Pastor Brad Davis
Consider this your invitation to live the rooted life. The rooted life is an anchored life and a nourished life. We’ve chosen to describe the rooted life this way: Live a Rooted Life Prayer, Scripture, and Worship are at the heartbeat of our relationship with God. Through Scripture and prayer, we seek God’s presence, listen for His voice, and align our hearts with his will. Through worship, we respond to who God is with gratitude, reverence, and joy. Like the three legs of a stool, worship, scripture, and prayer, form the foundation of the rooted life. Through the rooted life you will begin to experience God in a new way. Your faith will go to the next level. You will live anchored and rooted to God. Think about what roots do. Roots provide stability for a tree, don’t they? They keep it anchored to the ground. Strong roots will keep a tree from falling under the pressure of a storm. With strong roots, a tree can endure the strongest of storms. If you live the rooted life, so will you and so will your faith! You will flourish and you will grow strong even through storms! A second thing roots do. Roots nourish a tree. They feed it. A good root system helps keep a tree healthy and vibrant. Strong roots feed a tree. They literally keep it alive. In the same way, you need the nourishment of being rooted in Christ to feed your soul. This language of being rooted in Christ flows right out of Scripture. “So then, just as you have received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to walk in him, being rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, and overflowing with gratitude.” (Colossians 2:6–7, CSB) Join us this weekend as we discuss the importance of living a rooted life. The alternative leads to futility, frustration, and failure.
